Owner-Operated Care

Business Policies & Operating Standards

Clear, upfront guidelines regarding estimates, scheduling, weather delays, NC sales tax, and payment processing.

1. Bidding & Itemized Estimates

All jobs begin with a formal estimate. Small, routine services (like standard lawn mowing) may receive a quick flat-rate quote, while larger projects include an internal breakdown of labor hours, materials, equipment, and travel.

E-Signature Acceptance: Estimates require customer approval before becoming a scheduled job. Customers can review terms and sign electronically via typed name, checkbox, or uploaded authorization in our secure portal.

2. Weather Delays & Route Rescheduling

Lawn care and outdoor services depend heavily on weather conditions. Rain, saturated soil, or severe weather may delay a scheduled visit.

Our Guarantee: When weather delays occur, we do NOT overwrite historical schedule records. Instead, your visit status updates to Weather Delayed and a replacement visit is generated for the next suitable service window. You can monitor visit status live in your customer portal.

3. North Carolina Sales Tax Policy

Under North Carolina Department of Revenue (NCDOR) rules, landscaping activities have distinct tax treatments. We classify every line item individually rather than applying a single uniform rate:

  • NC Capital Improvement Lawns, sod, aerating, mowing, and tree planting qualifying as real-property capital improvements.
  • NC Taxable RMI Repair, maintenance, or installation of irrigation components, landscape lighting, or artificial turf.
  • NC Tangible Goods Retail sales of uninstalled materials or goods.

4. Invoicing & Accepted Payment Methods

Invoices are issued upon job completion or according to agreed deposit/progress terms.

Accepted Payment Methods:

  • 💵 Cash (receipt generated upon manual entry)
  • 📝 Check payable to TREE YARD TURF & EARTH
  • 💳 Electronic / Portal Payments (Credit card / Debit card / ACH via customer portal once activated)
